Horse Power

Have you ever considered where the word horse power came from?

When the beams for the castle were being made, I had the privilege of visiting with an Amish master craftsman Daniel Schwartz. It was in his barn I saw the horses harnessed to a beam as they trod around in circles.  One, two, three or four horse created the power to drive the saw.

It was amazing to watch when Daniel ceased sawing to chat with us, the horse would immediately stop also, without a word from him.  When asked why Daniel said the horse no longer felt tension and knew he didn't have to work.

Interesting that tension drives even an animal to work and lack there of does not.  We all need a certain amount of horsepower in our lives to motivate us to grow, develop and become the best of who we are meant to be. This horsepower is
pushed by the tension we have to create a better home for those we love.  Enjoy the tension and the benefits of your personal driven horsepower.
