No More Weddings!

It has been a pleasure doing weddings at our enchanted home.  Unfortunately we will no longer host weddings at the castle.  Keep watch.  We are thinking of many things we might do to share this unique castle with our community.  Best wishes in all your endeavors!

We will always remember the special couples that have added to the history of Chateau Charmant!

We are appealing the states decision one more time.  Hopefully they can see how the castle is actually constructed and lower it to the point that we might be able to share the castle again with the community.

Closing, the Bitter Sweet

Building and sharing the castle has been an adventure.  We hope those of you who have become our friends will call and let us know how you are doing.

It's sad when our government and judicial offices become so entangled in minutia created by legislators that they are unable to use common sense, hear the facts on construction standards used and that their mass appraisal system has no latitude to take into account anything that does not fit into the commonly used building practices on which they base their assessment.

It's sad for the public to no longer be able to use the castle for their special wedding or events because of a taxation which makes it impossible for a Mom and Pop business to stay in business (only using our home for less than 5% of the year and to be taxed for the entire 365days as though we're a Wal Mart is unconscionable.)

What's sadder still is that all of you that have a home based business could be taxed as a commercial property for all year even though it is part time!  Watch out all you part time businesses that work out of your home you may be next -  forced also to close your doors because of outrageous assessments.

Hope you have a Merry Christmas!  The Christmas Eve at the castle will not be held this year!

Horse Power

Have you ever considered where the word horse power came from?

When the beams for the castle were being made, I had the privilege of visiting with an Amish master craftsman Daniel Schwartz. It was in his barn I saw the horses harnessed to a beam as they trod around in circles.  One, two, three or four horse created the power to drive the saw.

It was amazing to watch when Daniel ceased sawing to chat with us, the horse would immediately stop also, without a word from him.  When asked why Daniel said the horse no longer felt tension and knew he didn't have to work.

Interesting that tension drives even an animal to work and lack there of does not.  We all need a certain amount of horsepower in our lives to motivate us to grow, develop and become the best of who we are meant to be. This horsepower is
pushed by the tension we have to create a better home for those we love.  Enjoy the tension and the benefits of your personal driven horsepower.

Happily Ever Afters only happen if we are willing to make it happen.  Remember date nights once a week, a passionate kiss daily, holding hands and listening when the other speaks will all create the ambiance for  a long life of many happily ever afters.
