Relationships also can withstand most storms if there is a firm foundation. When the torrents of an unleashed stream of criticism or harsh words, wash away common sense and the desire to be civil, It is imperative to have your relationship based on something bigger than self. Thus giving a reason to work thru the difficult times with kindness as the bridge to help over troubled waters. Remember the other person may be hurt, tired, frustrated and in their normal way would never mean any criticism. Be patient, generous with love and remember the bridge of kindness.
Troubled waters are best crossed with a sturdy bridge.

Signs given are often distorted by inclement weather, poor vision or numerous other obstacles. It is the same as signs given in a relationship. Weather, mood, lack of understanding or even sheer near sightedness may contribute to going in the wrong direction. And that direction might take you so far off course that it seems impossible to go right. Realize, the sun will shine again and melt the imperceptions created from misread signs. Patience, willingness to look beyond self all help in restoring a clearer vision. Wipe away distortions and inclement weather from the signs our loved ones give. It will help us see more clearly what their true needs are and who we are. Thus thru the storms of life we grow closer and more able to assist those loved ones in need. It becomes less about us and more about them. Then thru this veiled life we finally see more clearly. Every home should be a mans (or woman's) castle whether in the huts of Africa or the palaces of Europe. It is often in the most humble circumstances where love and selfless concern is shared most... Perhaps this comes from serving others instead of self. Sadly, the more we have, often, the more we want and the less we share with others. But it doesn't have to be so. Share from your heart, look for good to do today and your life will be happier. Brides Balloon & Bentleys model from Norms online Bridal Photo: JML Photography, Magic happens when we turn on the switch in our mind and let those creative juices flow. Exciting events stimulate that dream mechanism. Events like a wedding truly bring out hidden desires in that dream world. I see it each time a loving couple comes to visit the castle. Every bride glows with that inner light of love. It radiates thru their eyes as they gaze at one another. That inner light is always there, within easy reach of switching it on or off. Life is so much more enjoyable when we choose to flip the switch on and Light up our lives with love. As we reflect on the choices we make in life I am reminded of Victor Frankl a holocaust survivor of the Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz "which led him to discover the importance of finding meaning in all forms of existence, even the most sordid ones, and thus a reason to continue living" It is not so much in what we GET in this life, but how we process it. How we FEEL about the things that happen and what we CHOOSE to DO about whatever the situation might bring. As an inmate in those horrific circumstances Frankl chose to share his meager diet, assist those in worse shape than he was and to make the most of what he had. He choose life! "Saying yes to life in spite of everything!" his first book after the holocaust reflects my feelings on dealing with the adversity that comes to us in this life. We may not always get what we want, but if we CHOOSE to do GOOD with this LIFE by being good to others our reflections will be from a place of peace in a life well lived. Building a dream together takes many forms. It's important to find what your core values are to determine where one wants to go. This ensures that you will be working on the same path. A necessity if you are to have a long lasting relationship. Appreciation for the differences and talents of each other, those which enrich your lives is a blessed addition. If your home, your life together, is to be a palace or a hovel, it all depends on the work you put into it together. Our country castle, medieval in structure and interior reflect our abilities and our desire to be liveable. Remember, most palaces have been built by greedy rulers unconcerned with their people and thus were inhabited by unhappy people. Be certain that your dream and your life together reflect your core values that your castle will be based on a solid foundation of love, trust and commitment thru adversity. In an effort not to say something one might regret, this term alludes to holding the tongue between the teeth. Shakespeare used it in 2 Henry VI (1:1): "So York must sit and fret and bite his tongue." Such is life if we are to have peace in relationships, at work and with friends. Those who have not learned this simple procedure of holding your tongue between your teeth will eventually have no friends with which to wag their tongue. My mothers admonition of always think before you speak brings harmony to a home where closer friendships are able to thrive. This simple technique takes only a moment 1. Place tip of tongue between your teeth 2. Bite gently 3. Count to 10 out-loud 4. Notice how difficult it is to talk when holding your tongue and how foolish you sound 5. Laugh heartily and move on Those who may, or may not be deserving of your wrath will also be laughing and confused with your tongue biting |
